TATA IPL 2025 Match 05 , GT Vs PBKS - Match Report 25 Mar, 2025

1.  Punjab Kings kickstarted their TATA IPL 2025 campaign with a thrilling 11-run victory over Gujarat Titans in Match 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. In a high-scoring encounter, PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer led from the front, smashing an unbeaten 97 off just 42 balls—his highest IPL score—to power his team to a daunting total of 243/5. Debutant Priyansh Arya (47 off 23) and Shashank Singh (44 off 16) provided crucial support, ensuring Punjab set a massive target.

2.  Gujarat Titans put up a valiant fight in response, with Sai Sudharsan (74 off 41), Jos Buttler (54 off 33), and Sherfane Rutherford (46 off 28) keeping the chase alive. Despite their best efforts, Punjab Kings held their nerve in the death overs, executing their plans effectively to clinch an important opening win.

Opting to bat first, Punjab Kings showed clear intent from
the start. While Prabhsimran Singh fell early to Kagiso Rabada, young Priyansh Arya played with confidence, unleashing a flurry of strokes. Skipper Shreyas Iyer also stamped his authority with elegant strokeplay, helping PBKS race to 73/1 in the powerplay.

However, Gujarat Titans fought back through Rashid Khan, who dismissed the aggressive Priyansh Arya for 47 on debut. The momentum briefly swung in GT’s favor when Sai Kishore struck thrice in quick succession, removing Azmatullah Omarzai, Glenn Maxwell, and Marcus Stoinis to finish with figures of 3/30. But Shreyas Iyer’s masterclass ensured Punjab Kings finished with a mammoth total, which ultimately proved just enough to secure victory.
